Ward No - 14

According to Tarachand Chattopadhyay, a ruined temple is visible in the Khariban of Bikihat, and a beautiful black stone pillar at the entrance of Bir Hat or Bera village is buried;  It is known as Hanuman's stick.  It seems that the stone block is about 25 feet long and the length of the stone can be estimated to be any piller used in Indreshwar temple. At the time when Goddess Bhagirathi descended from the Himalayas, Indradeva bathed in the Ganges at this place, hence the name Indreshwar.  King Indreshwar installed Indreshwar Shivalinga in this place and established the city of Indrani according to the name of the deity or the name of Shivalinga is Indreshwar after the established deity of Indrani Nagar.  From Krittibas to the time of Mukundaram, Indreshwar and Indrani were famous.
